Suren started his photography career at age sixteen. He later became a scientific researcher at the Institute for Physical Research of the National Academy of Sciences. That was when he became a professional photographer. Suren is a genius behind the frame. He has a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the Yerevan State University. He teaches physics, mathematics, projective geometry, and astronomy at the Yerevan Waldorf School. In addition to his photography and science talents, Suren plays five musical instruments: guitar, cello, piano, block flute, and lyre.
Suren is interested in macro to portraits, creative photo projects, landscapes, and more photography styles. He always looks for details and patterns when he engages in his creations. He is also curious to explore the hidden beauty of nature and life. You can enjoy his photos not only for entertainment but also for informative and educational views.
Suren has two popular series, “Your Beautiful Eyes” and “Animal Eyes,” that have attracted millions of views on the web. Publications like National Geographic, The Guardian, Wired, and Huffington Post also featured them. In 2010, he began his project by taking close-up pictures of his and his friend’s eyes. This experiment turned out quite interesting. Suren was amazed by the intricate patterns and textures he discovered in the human iris. After exploring the human eye, Suren decided to broaden his horizons and delve into the animal kingdom. His collection now boasts photographs of the eyes of a variety of animals, from fish and reptiles to mammals.
In his photos, Suren Manvelyan captures the beauty and complexity of the eye. The intricate structures and textures he reveals are usually invisible to the naked eye. Each eye is unique in its shape, color, and structure. You can observe that eyes like those of horses or cows are simple and beautiful. Others, like the eyes of chameleons or dragonflies, are complex and intelligent. Parrots and peacocks have eyes that are bright and colorful. And you will notice that the eyes of crocodiles and sharks are dark and mysterious.
Suren’s photographs have been showcased all over the world, in countries such as Armenia, France, the UK, the US, Russia, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Norway, Spain, China, Japan, and Australia. He has also been identified for his contributions to science and was awarded the President Award of the Republic of Armenia in 2002 for his work in quantum technologies.
Suren hopes that through sharing his images, people will become more interested in the beautiful world of animals and their vision. Additionally, he wishes for his efforts to increase public understanding of the value of conserving species and their natural habitats.
