This penguin stood out among the colony of over 100,000 other penguins.

Intrigued by this oddity, Adams learned that the yellow penguin’s distinctive color was due to a rare genetic mutation called “Leucism.” This condition causes a reduction in pigmentation, giving the penguin its unusual yellow hue. Leucism is extremely rare, with only about 1 in 14,000 to 20,000 penguins possessing this trait.
Adams’ photos mark the first time a “Yellow Penguin” has been captured in such detail, offering the world a glimpse into this extraordinary phenomenon.
