Sometimes nature is so unique, creating the most unusual pieces of art. They are sometimes quite surprising due to their formation, shape, or size. You can always say that nature is one of the most influential and unusual creators who always creates something new.
Mother Nature always knows how to surprise human beings. Among those beautiful creations, this is one!
The story we are going to share with you now is awe-inspiring as well as unique. It is about this beautiful tree that is very special in shape and size.
Looking at this tree at once, it is significant. This is not the world’s most giant tree, but it is one of the largest currently available.
This tree is found in Colombia’s Caribbean islands. Some people misinterpret the type of this tree as the Tree of Gaucar. But it is not. There was another massive tree in the same place that was similar to this particular tree.
The tree has a significant history too. In the 1990s, the tree was known as the Saman of Gaucar. It was shown in the Colombian coins as well. The Samanea was also known as a rain tree, and it was believed to be felled in 1982 as the thick branches of the tree started detaching.
Anyway, this tree that we are talking about s very unique. It is not another Samanea saman. It is a Ficus. Sometimes it is called a fig tree as well. Some believe this is a famous decorative plant in gardens and houses worldwide. But this tree is a lot bigger than most of the common trees people think about this tree.
This fig tree is known as the most enormous tree in Columbia. This tree’s formation and shape mislead the people, and many think this is a hill. But when you get close to it, you feel like a dwarf. The tree is massive, and you will not believe the size of it until you see it with your own eyes. The tree is believed to be 30 meters tall and 75 meters in circumference. Though we cannot be definite about it, the photographs give you an idea.
The fantastic foliage of the tree has made it look more like a lush green mountain. The branches are spread everywhere. It looks like the tree is paying tribute to mother nature. The tree kisses the ground to show gratitude. Also, it supports the aerial roots emerging from the branches as well.
The tree itself is a beautiful sight. When you go under this massive tree, you feel calm and relaxed as the shade frees you from all the stress. You think the tree is more like the basement of an enormous building. The branches spread everywhere with the areal roots coming out from them, making them look more like the feet of the tree. Many in Latin America call this tree- the tree that walks. The pillar-like branches cover up the border area with the branches so that they get more direct sunlight.
A similar tree in San Marcos is not a tree but a grove of trees.
The historians, too, have the same view about the tree. They also say that this tree is a green mass with many details.
The story behind this tree is this! In 1964, the owner of the Alejandra farm wanted to conserve a yellow cider tree that he had planted. He planted six fig trees around it to keep it away from the animals.
Instead of protecting the cider plant, the fig trees grew well and nourished around the cider tree. They grew bigger and bigger and finally devoured the yellow cider tree gradually.
By the inspiration of the San Marcos giant fig tree, six separate plants linked together by the ariel roots could reasonably support this tree.Â
